Glossary

  • Administrator – the controller of the website. He/she can edit, and make changes to the page.
  • Bluehost – a website to help with web hosting. (https://www.bluehost.com)
  • Bookmark – A remembered link saved to a computer for easy access to the website.
  • Domain – an identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control on the Internet.
  • Favicon – an icon associated with a URL that is variously displayed, as in a browser’s address bar or next to the site name in a bookmark list.
  • Foxy Cart – used to help increase the flow of checking out on a page, making it more user friendly and appealing. (https://www.foxycart.com)
  • Foxy Shop – helps integrate Foxy Cart and WordPress. (https://www.foxy-shop.com)
  • Post – an update, or simple message alerting those viewing the site. It can alert them on coming up events, recent news, etc.
  • Site Header – one of the very first things a viewer sees when opening a website.
  • Stripe – a system used to allow webpage owners to accept credit cards and accept donations or funding. (https://stripe.com)
  • Subdomain – a domain that is part of a larger domain.
  • Theme – the overall look and design of the webpage.
  • Twitter and/or Facebook – multimedia sites used to help associates, companies, and friends communicate and interact with themselves and other users. (https://twitter.com) (https://facebook.com)
  • Website Hosting – a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web.
  • WordPress – used when developing a webpage to help establish the aesthetics and usability of a website. (http://wordpress.org)
  • WordPress Admin – your URL/wp-admin
